I might have strange snack habits.
Sometimes I’ll want the orangest, most powdery, neonest cheese puff I can find. The more the texture resembles styrofoam, the more pleased I am. Other times, I’ll crave something not meant to be so much as a snack as it is a topping, like crispy chow mein noodles - the kind you put in soup. That’s not a snack. It’s an accompaniment.
Other times though, I’ll go all out. My snack will turn into a varied platter, beautifully arranged and presented as if I were throwing a party, even though it’s just for me to sit on the couch and eat alone like a sad person.
So when Melissa’s Produce sent me these lovely bosc pears, I couldn’t decide what to do - pear tart? Pear slushy? Some kind of pear sandwich? While thinking about it, I got hungry, so I made a snack, and not a cheese puff level snack. I made a pretty epic snack using 4 simple ingredients, and it tasted (and looked) so, so fancy.
You will need:
- goat cheese
Assembly is simple enough - just slice the pears, add a small spoonful of cheese to the tops, place a walnut on the cheese and drizzle copiously with honey.
It’s obviously a great appetizer for parties, but there’s no shame in making this for yourself! It’s your snack, after all - YOU DESERVE A LITTLE FANCINESS.
